Diaper Print Designs | Hello Bello | 2020-21
Hello Bello is a baby brand founded by actors Kristin Bell and Dax Shepard that is known for their playful diaper artwork. Their design team asked me to develop a wide variety of patterns from broad categories they provided. Over the course of year, I developed 40+ concepts and prepared all selected designs for production in several sizes to meet their needs. Below are the prints that went into production!
For the more boy-leaning prints, I used bold colors and pushed traditional themes like space and transportation with 3-eyed alien cats and an eagle driving an American flag monster truck. It took the prints from basic and sweet to unexpected and kid-appropriate cool!
On the more girl-leaning themes, I ensured the palettes weren’t overly sweet, with hits of bright blue, ocher or green. I created a range of looks from spunky and loud to whimsical and dainty so parent’s could choose a print that best represented their little one.
For Hello Bello’s spring set, I developed a couple of sweeter, more traditionally themed prints but approached them in a way that felt sophisticated and fresh.
For their summer set, I created warm weather vibes with silly hotdogs, playful pool floats, African animals, and ridiculously cute baby shrampies!
In the fall, I made a forest critter toss, a spooky-sweet Halloween print, and was asked to develop a geo-bug pattern. No matter the theme, I always look for ways to tell stories, freshen-up traditional icons, or utilize unique layouts!
For Hello Bello’s winter set, I created two prints: an arctic theme with a hint of warmth, and a Scandinavian-inspired cozy reindeer.
Creating this collection of prints was so much fun and I loved that my daughter was young enough to sport them, too!
