Edible Sticker Designs | Make Bake | 2020-2021
I worked with Kristina Schlegel, the founder of Make Bake, to develop a wide range of artwork for her Stickies product line. Stickies are edible stickers that help kids and parents make unique treats! Kristina wanted a variety of content to test with her clients, so I made art to fulfill those needs both thematically and stylistically.
Make Bake needed a modern core birthday collection to add to the Stickies line. I developed two options: a retro font-based set with balloon dogs, and a party animal set with a range of cheerful characters. The type version went forward due to it’s versatility with a wide range of ages.
For girl themed designs, I developed a rainbow unicorn collection and fancy llamas for something a little more unexpected. Stickies can only have a limited number of colors per sheet so making each collection feel colorful while staying within those production perimeters was a central component to work through.
For traditionally “boy” themes, Kristina asked for dinosaurs and forest critters/camp icons. She chose dinosaurs to move forward, but we utilized some of the animals developed for camp on a holiday collection - see below!
This Valentine’s collection was the first I created for Make Bake. Kristina was looking for food puns paired with sweet illustrations. I hand lettered the text and created the characters. You may notice that each set has several main icons/characters and a few secondary icons to fill in the sticker sheet!
For Halloween, Kristina wanted 2 sets: one core Halloween and one Day of the Dead inspired. These collections sat well with each other and could easily be used together, but also worked as stand-alone purchases. It was amazing to see customers using the Stickies in such different ways for the Halloween creations!
I created a single set to cover Hanukkah customers. I stuck with classic colors and included playful phrases, traditional Hanukkah icons, and some happy dreidel characters to round out the assortment.
I created two sets for holiday treat-making. One was winter-focused with a mix of traditional and unexpected characters, while the other was Nordic inspired with gingerbread cookies and patterned details.
