Sesame Street | Color Pop! Style Guide Development | 2019
The Sesame Street product development team asked me to design a mini style guide called “Color Pop!” The idea was to create bold graphics with bright grounds that would be easy to use on a wide range of products. I designed a large cast of core Sesame Street characters, a variety of hand-written sentiments and secondary icons.
Elmo is often the star of Sesame Street these days, so his capsule set the tone for the overall look of the Color Pop! style guide. Vibrant grounds with hand-written text captured Elmo’s playful, childlike spirit. Expressive poses bring energy to the art and offer unique options for the product development team.
Bert and Ernie’s art centers around the timeless theme of friendship. Using keywords like "buddies" and "best buds," I crafted heartwarming mini-scenes of bubble-blowing, balloon-holding, and cheerful chatter. Their interactions emphasize their bond and their classic charm.
Cookie Monster’s visuals are silly and full of…COOKIES! I designed treat-inspired typography to reinforce his iconic obsession. The art features graphic compositions to provide versatility across product lines, ensuring Cookie Monster’s quirky personality shines through.
Oscar’s art embraces his grouchiness with bold SCRAM lettering. From trash can accents to scowling expressions, every detail celebrates Oscar’s loveably cranky attitude, and is sure to pack a punch on any product it lands on.
Big Bird’s art features bold, colorful lettering. The oversized typography mirrors his larger-than-life personality, while the sky-blue background and vibrant palette creates a warm and welcoming feel. These designs were meant to capture Big Bird’s gentle and optimistic nature
Grover’s capsule is all about wild, carefree fun! I hand-lettered his signature catchphrases, weaving him into the typography in unexpected ways. The art embraces bold, dynamic compositions and energetic color combinations to reflect Grover’s lively and lovable chaos.
Abby’s art is a dreamy mix of soft pinks, purples, and magical details like butterflies and stardust, appealing to a younger, female-leaning audience. The light, airy palette and whimsical touches create an enchanting atmosphere that captures Abby’s sweet and sparkling personality.
